Ammon News - The Ministry of Health has announced 4,630 new Covid-19 cases and 40 fatalities were recorded in the Kingdom on Thursday, bringing the total caseload to 95,864, and death toll to 1069.
The local cases comprised 2833 infections in the capital Amman governorate, 703 in Zarqa, 421 in Irbid, including 63 in northern border district of Ramtha, 152 in Balqa, 119 in Ajloun, 117 in Aqaba, 110 in Ma'an, including 14 in southern Petra region, 75 in Karak, 73 in Mafraq, 20 in Madaba, and 7 in Jerash, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.
The number of cases that were admitted to hospitals on Thursday for treatment in accredited hospitals reached 233, while 148 patients left hospitals after recovery, announced the joint statement.
The total number of patients currently receiving treatment in hospitals has reached 1590, of which 323 are on intensive care beds, added the statement.
Meanwhile, 25,258 lab tests were conducted, bringing the cumulative number of tests administered since the start of the pandemic so far to 1,980,683, it noted, adding that the percentage of positive tests today has reached 18.3%.
Amid the growing number of local infections, the Ministry of Health has renewed its call on the public to abide by defence orders, as well as to adhere to precautionary measures, mainly wearing face masks and avoiding holding gatherings that exceed 20 people.
The ministry also highlighted the 'Aman' (Safety) application for smartphones, which alerts users if they come into contact with a COVID-19 positive person, as well as 'Sahtak' (your health) application, which provides users with the latest information and news related to COVID-19, in addition to guidelines and warnings pertaining to the Kingdom’s epidemiological situation.
