Awqaf minister says 12.15 p.m. to 1.15 p.m the hour allocated to Friday prayers
AMMONNEWS - Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Dr. Mohammed Khalayleh, announced mosques nationwide will open to perform miday (Duhur) Friday prayers on foot from 12.15 p.m. until 1.15 p.m., according to Defense Orders 19 and 20.
Speaking during a press briefing held at the Prime Ministry on Thursday, he said the the anti-Covid-19 measures aimed to preserve public health and safety.
As for the Friday prayers, he sent a message to the worshipers to adhere to the health measures announced by the ministry recently, such as wearing a face mask, physical distancing, and bringing a special prayer rug to preserve society's health.
In case of flouting the set measures, the minister noted the authorities will not hesitate to 'close any non-compliant mosques,' in order to ensure the worshipers' health, calling on the mosques' preachers to maintain health procedures.
The Friday sermon will not exceed 10 minutes, he affirmed, adding that the worshipers shouldn't bring children under the age of 15 and the elderly over 50yrs.
