Foreign Ministry condemns Israel's plans to build new settlement units
AMMONNEWS - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned on Wednesday the approval of the Israeli authorities to build thousands of housing units in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The ministry's spokesperson, Dhaifallah Fayez, affirmed the Kingdom's rejection of the Israeli settlement policies in the occupied Palestinian territories, which are a breach of international law and UN Security Council resolutions.
The Israeli decision is a 'unilateral, illegal, condemned' step that undermines the chances for a two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions, according to Fayez.
The official also stressed the need to stop all settlement practices, whether in the form of construction, expansion or confiscation of lands, in accordance with Israel's obligations as the occupying power.
Fayez called on the international community to take 'decisive' stances to pressure Israel to stop its practices that undermine peace efforts and opportunities.
