Government to maintain anti-Covid-19 measures to protect citizens, says Adaileh
AMMONNEWS - Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, said the Cabinet has discussed the most 'prominent' pandemic-related developments, and the relevant feedback on several recent governmental decisions.
During the Cabinet's session held on Sunday, chaired by Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, Adaileh said the governmnet stressed the necessity to maintain anti-Covid-19 measures in place, aimed at protecting citizens and preserving their safety, simultaneously taking into consideration sustaining operations of the Kingdom's sectors and axing the Covid-19 induced consequences accordingly.
Speaking during a press briefing held at the Prime Ministry, he said Covid-19 presser will continue during official working days, and will see participation of Minister of Health, Dr. Saad Jaber, as well as the media spokesperson for the National Committee for Epidemics, Dr. Nathir Obeidat, and any other public officials, when needed.
The decision to maintain the Covid-19 presser comes to ensure the continued flow of information at a pace that serves citizens, aquaints them with new Covid-19 developments, and responds to relavant observations, according to Adaileh.
With regard to the Cabinet decisions, Adaileh said the Council of Ministers has endorsed the Quality and Consumer Protection Bill for 2020, which will be issued the first time, in a bid to provide health and environmental protection to citizens.
According to Adaileh, the Cabinet also approved a draft law amending the Illicit Gains Law for 2020, to complement the government's measures within the framework of strengthening the integrity system and combating corruption.
As per the new bill, perpetrators of illicit gain will be prosecuted , considering every 'increase, or abnormal growth' that occurs to the wealth and assets of any public employee as an illegal gain, if he/she fails to 'reasonably explain' this wealth bloating, in relation to the income generated by legitimate sources.
