Expatriate workers to withdraw social security benefits before leaving Kingdom
AMMONNEWS - Expatriate workers in Jordan who are wishing to leave the Kingdom against the backof the COVID-19 pandemic will be able to withdraw their social security benefits before their departure, Minister of Labour, Nidal Bataineh, said on Monday.
The minister said that upon limiting the number of submitted leave applications via hemayah.jo platform, on which registration ends on May 4, names will be sent to the Social Security Corporation (SSC) to be processed.
'The workers will receive a notification stating the application has been accepted, and they can receive their financial dues within 72 hours from the last day of the platform's registration,' he added, noting that the obtained notification is also a movement permit to go to the nearest SSC branch.
In light of the impact of the COVID-19 crisis, the minister said any fines and fees related to work permits will be waivered upon leaving the country as they too were impacted by the economic ramifications of the pandemic, adding that those who work illegally will also be included.
