Jordan, Azerbaijan agree to launch new direct flight route
AMMONNEWS - Jordan's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Sami Ghosheh, discussed with President of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), Jahangir Askerov, the launching of a direct flight route between Jordan and Azerbaijan.
The meeting was held following the official visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Azerbaijan last December, during which the King and the Azeri President, Ilham Aliyev, agreed to expand the horizons of cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
Ambassador Ghosheh expressed his hope the new flight route will boost bilateral ties, especially in the economic and tourism domains, noting that mutual visits among representatives of Jordanian and Azeri tourism companies will be organized to enhance collaboration between the two countries.
During the talks, Askerov stressed the opening of direct flights will further encourage development of tourism and business relations between both countries.
The flights between Amman and Baku will be operated twice a week as from the end of May, on 'Embraer 190' by Buta Airways.
Buta Airways is an Azerbaijani low-cost virtual carrier headquartered in Baku, with its primary operational base at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. It is a fully owned subsidiary of Azerbaijan Airlines.
