European Parliament okays €500 million soft loan to Jordan
AMMONNEWS - The European Parliament on Tuesday approved by an overwhelming majority a soft loan to Jordan worth 500 million euros to support the Kingdom's economy and mitigate the impact of regional crises, Jordanian Ambassador in Brussels Yousef Bataineh announced.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement today that the European Commission endorsed a proposal on September 6 to offer the Kingdom a soft loan within the overall assistance program to stimulate growth, investment and job creation, support economic stability and accelerate the implementation of economic reforms in the country.
Bataineh said the decision is a recognition of the role of Jordan and its leadership in the region.
