Jordan denies agreeing to extend, renew use of Al-Baqoura, Ghumar
AMMONNEWS - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Wednesday denied reports by Israeli media that Jordan has approved to renew or extend the use of Al-Baqoura and Ghumar areas.
The Ministry's spokesperson, Sufian Qudah, confirmed the Kingdom's decision taken on 12/10/2018 to terminate Al-Baqoura and Ghumar's annexes is final and definitive, noting that by the end of the two special regulations on 10/11/2019 (as stipulated in the peace treaty with Israel) there will be no renewal or extension.
The Israeli side asked for consultations as stipulated in the treaty, Qudah said, adding we initiated consultations on whether to terminate not renew the use, in order to move from the previous stage and arrangements to the next stage.
