Arab finance ministers to provide a financial safety net for Palestine
AMMONNEWS - Arab finance ministers will hold an emergency meeting at the Arab League in Cairo next Sunday to provide a financial safety net for the Palestinian economy to help it cope with Israel's financial and economic practices and procedures, especially withholding the disbursement of Palestinian tax returns.
On the step, the league's Assistant Secretary-General Ambassador Hossam Zaki said the meeting 'came at the invitation of the bloc's Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, in coordination and consultation with the Palestinian side, in implementation of the resolution issued by the emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers held last 21 April to support the Palestinian budget.
Zaki noted the aid is also in implementation of the Tunisia summit's resolution to activate a financial safety net, worth $100 million a month, in support of the Palestinian Authority to counter the political and financial pressures it is battling.
