Three Jordanians who were detained in Iran return home
AMMONNEWS - Three Jordanians who were detained in Iran arrived at Queen Alia International Airport early on Monday after necessary procedures were taken to transfer them from Iran to Jordan through Iraq, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
The three men were detained in January, 2018 after their fishing boat accidently entered Iranian waters while on a fishing trip with their friends from other Arab countries.
The Ministry's Spokesperson Sufian Qudah said that the three Jordanians were supposed to have arrived from the United Arab Emirates by sea last week, but this was not possible due to unstable weather conditions, noting that they were transferred back to Jordan from Iraq by air in cooperation and coordination between the ministry and other concerned state agencies.
Qudan voiced Jordan's thanks and appreciation for Iraq for the facilities it provided to ensure their quick return to Jordan.
He also thanked the UAE for cooperation and efforts it exerted in this regard.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi delegated Director of Consular Affairs Department Ahid Sweidat and the Ministry's Spokesperson Sufian Qudah to receive the three Jordanians upon their arrival at Queen Alia International Airport.
