Three traffic police officers behind bars for beating man
AMMONNEWS - Three traffic police officers have been jailed at a Public Security Department reform and rehabilitation center, facing battery and misconduct charges after allegedly assaulting a man in the northern Irbid governorate, a judiciary investigation revealed Friday.
'Soon as the police chief learned of the complaint, he ordered a probe into the incident to take the appropriate legal action against those who broke the law', said Spokesman of the Public Security Department (PSD) Lt. Colonel Amer Al Sartawi.
A competent public prosecutor headed to Irbid and launched an investigation into the incident. The PSD director also ordered the transfer of the officers from the Traffic Police Department, he added.
The probe showed the veracity of the man's claim, who was repeatedly struck by the officers and was taken to hospital for treatment. The PSD Northern Region Commander also met the man to check on his health.
