AMMONNEWS - A slight rise in temperatures is expected on Monday becoming 5 - 7 degrees above their annual average and bringing pleasant weather in most parts of the country, while it will be warm in the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.
Clouds may appear at high altitudes and the winds will be southeasterly moderate to brisk, stirring dust in the desert, the JMD added.
Daytime temperatures forecast for today in Amman and the northern cities will hover around 22 degrees Celsius dropping down to 9 at night, while it will range between a high of 20 degrees Celsius in the southern regions and a low of 7 degrees Celsius. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 29 degrees and lows standing at 16, the JMD said .
On Tuesday, the Kingdom will be affected by a cold air mass accompanied by a depression centered over Cyprus, that will bring cold in most regions, but it will remain pleasant in Aqaba and the Jordan Valley, with scattered showers in the northern and central parts of the country.
At night, clouds are expected to accumulate at different altitudes with will be cloudy skies in most regions, while the rainfall will extend to include central regions and parts of the south-western areas. Winds will be westerly brisk, strongly picking up reaching 50 to 60 km/h and stirring dust in the desert.
The impact of the cold air mass will continue on Wednesday pushing mercury levels down and bringing heavy rain that might be accompanied by thunder and hail in some areas, forming floods in the valleys and the lowlands.
