LTUC Introduces Pioneering Coding Program in Partnership with Code Fellows
AMMONNEWS - Luminus Technical University College (LTUC) - a member of Luminus Education - has partnered with Code Fellows, a coding academy offering world class software development training, to introduce a Coding Program under its School of Advanced Technology, which is scheduled to launch full operations within the upcoming period. Through this step, LTUC aims to bring to the local market the time efficient and industry tested teaching methods and curriculum of Code Fellows to help home-grown talent that can meet the needs and grow the potential of Jordan’s evolving technology sector.
The pioneering Coding Program leverages fast-paced, career-focused and immersive education known for driving tangible results in a short amount of time. Geared towards passionate learners, the Program hones the skills required for today’s jobs by providing students with hands-on software development experience in full-stack JavaScript, Python, ASP.NET and Java, as well as beginner-level HTML, CSS and JavaScript courses, so they may effectively contribute to companies they join.
“This is an exciting time for LTUC after launching the School of Advanced Technology and introducing a leading Coding Program along with our new partners, Code Fellows. In recent years, Jordan has become renowned for its quality software outsourcing services; however, for us to maintain and enhance this position within the region, it is imperative that we equip our youth with in-demand tech skills and qualifications to allow them to secure better work opportunities and improved lives for themselves and others alike,” explained Ibrahim Al-Safadi, CEO of Luminus Education. “For this reason, we saw a massive advantage in joining forces with Code Fellows, which will enable our students to remain abreast of advancements within the global tech sphere through the forward-thinking, specialized curriculum it has devised. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact our graduates will have on furthering the local, and even regional, software industry.”
In turn, Loay Malahmeh, Head of Innovation at Luminus Education, commented, “The MENA region, Jordan included, currently lacks a shortage of talented and competent developers to handle complex digital projects. With nearly 5,200 yearly Information and Communications Technology (ICT) graduates in the Kingdom, the majority of whom are unemployed, we recognized the need to move away from outdated, theory-based programs to offer a progressive curriculum, which can bridge the skills gap within the local ICT sector. With government-led digitization sweeping all industries, producing competent tech-savvy employees to go with it is paramount. Accordingly, we are thrilled to have taken the first steps towards ensuring our students receive the relevant education they deserve.”
On his part, Mitchell Robertson, Vice President of Code Fellows, stated, “It is our pleasure to be working with an established and trusted entity like LTUC, allowing us to extend our expertise to the Jordanian market, where digital adoption and demand for qualified software developers are on the rise, and we are delighted to be taking part in shaping the next generation of proficient, work-ready software developers.”
Moreover, LTUC held a ceremony commemorating the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with int@j and the National Sectors Skills Council (NSSC-ICT) for their support of the School of Advanced Technology. Both entities will assist LTUC by extending relevant data and access to the ICT sector, forging agreements with major employers to hire graduates, as well as monitoring the overall learning and employment impact. The event was attended by representatives from Endeavor, int@j, NSSC-ICT, Expedia, UNICEF, Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and Code Fellows.
