AMMONNEWS - Minister of Labor, Samir Murad, discussed with his Egyptian counterpart, Mohamed Sa'afan, on the sidelines of the Arab Labor Conference held in Cairo a number of issues of common interest in various fields of labor eyeing to serve the two brotherly countries, especially the Egyptian workforce in Jordan and rectifying violators' status according to law.
During the meeting, Murad lauded bilateral ties as 'historic, distinguished and strategic' at all levels, driven by a range of diverse economic, social and political interests.
Murad stressed the importance of spurring Egyptian expats working in the Kingdom to rectify their status and raising their awareness of the significance of this step to provide social and legal protection for them.
To achieve this bid, he pointed out the Jordanian government has recently granted expat workers, including the Egyptians, a two- month grace period to rectify their status in which a large number of Egyptian manpower benefited from this initiative.
On a related context, Murad said it is crucial to find joint working mechanisms to regulate the Egyptian labor force in Jordan to avoid taking legal action against violators, in direct coordination with the Egyptian Ministry of Manpower and the Egyptian Embassy in Jordan.
For his part, Sa'afan said the Egyptian side is working hard to use all channels of communication available to raise awareness of Egyptian workers abroad to comply with the laws of the host country.
Sa'afan highlighted his country's gov't pilot programs aiming the Egyptian youth similar to a certain extent with the Jordanian initiatives to stimulate youth self-employment.
The embassies will raise awareness of the Egyptian youth abroad about these programs to benefit from the state loans to establish productive projects, he added.
The two sides agreed on the importance of joint cooperation and exchange of expertise, especially in the fields of vocational and technical training and entrepreneurship.
