AMMONNEWS - Coordinator of the EU-funded ENI CBC 'Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme, Esmat Karadsheh said the EU financed 47 projects worth 6 million euros in Jordan.
These Cross-Border Cooperation (CBC) projects included the fields of environment, agriculture and water, renewable energy, tourism, and development of the local environment, in which a range of government institutions, universities and NGOs benefited from these key ventures, he explained.
Speaking to a lecture on the fields of the programme's support to regional projects held at the Jordan Society for Scientific Research (JSSR) and moderated by its President Dr. Anwar al-Batikhi on Sunday evening, Karadsheh said preparations are underway to open tenders for strategic projects with funding up to $6 million as Jordan is expected to receive a number of projects with a developmental and strategic dimension.
During the lecture, he also highlighted the programme's main objectives, notably the development of small and medium enterprises, support for education, technological research and innovation, the promotion of social integration and combating poverty, environmental protection and adaptation to climate change.
As for the terms and application mechanism for these projects, Karadsheh said interested people can apply through the program's website: www.enpicbcmed.eu to obtain the basic information, guidelines and how to submit in Arabic, English and French, as well as project proposals provided by all participating states and the search for project partners.
Karadcha urged all Jordanian governmental or non-governmental institutions to contact the programme's regional office, which is hosted by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) to obtain more information on a wide range of key projects to Jordan and the region.
