AMMONNEWS - Jordan will attend an international conference on reconstruction in Iraq, which will be hosted by Kuwait this week, Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani said.
Momani, who will attend along with the minister of state for investment affairs and two foreign ministry ambassadors, hailed Kuwait's initiative to host the conference, which will be held 'at this key stage in Iraq'.
'Kuwait's hosting of the Iraq reconstruction conference embodies the key role it (Kuwait) plays in serving pan-Arab issues and reflects the humanitarian and Arab nationalist approach it has been keen to enhance', he said in remarks to Petra.
Jordan last month received an invitation to the conference, which will take place Feb. 12-14, from Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Al Abadi.
Momani spoke of the importance of the gathering after Iraq's victories against the Daesh terror group, which ushered in the start of the reconstruction process and efforts to achieve the country's stability and the welfare of its people who had suffered from years of injustice, killing and displacement.
Momani, who is also official government spokesman, reiterated Jordan's support of Iraq in the reconstruction process and in the fight against terrorism and extremism as well as the unity and sovereignty of the country.
