King presents Supreme Commander’s Flag to army battalion
AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), on Monday presented the Supreme Commander’s Flag to Ja'far bin Abi Talib 39th Mechanized Battalion from Princess Aliyah 48th Mechanized Brigade that was established in 1965.
The handing over of the banner is a of appreciation for the bravery and sacrifices offered by members of these units and their role in defending the country and is part of continued efforts by King Abdullah to recognise the various units of the army.
Upon arrival at the ceremony site, the King received an official welcome that included a 21-gun salute by the artillery.
the King was welcomed by the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff as well as senior army officers.
Addressing attendees, the commander of the battalion highlighted the armed forces’ sacrifices to protect the Kingdom.
A military exhibition was also organized on the sidelines of the ceremony in which machinery and weapons used by the battalion were displayed.
The ceremony was also attended by a number of Royal family members, the prime minister, the Senate president, the speaker of the Lower House of Parliament as well as top civic and military officials.
