AMMONNEWS - The Arab League's Economic and Social Council approved during a ministerial meeting by the Dead Sea shores on Sunday, draft resolutions that will be presented to the Arab leaders during the Arab Summit that kicks off on Wednesday.
Ambassador Rima Alaa Aldin said in a press briefing that the council approved 10 draft resolutions related to Arab trade, the greater Arab free area, and the Arab customs union.
She said the meeting entrusted the secretariat general to start preparing a draft protocol on the customs for the purpose of implementation.
The council also approved the Cairo Declaration for Arab Women and the Strategic Plan for Women Empowerment in the Arab Region- 2030.
The ministers stressed the importance of providing full support to Arab countries hosting Syrian refugees as well as establishing development projects in these countries to ease the economic and social impact resulting from hosting the refugees.
The meeting also focused on the social dimension in combating terrorism as it is one of the main challenges that face Arab social development.
The ambassador said the ministers affirmed the importance of boosting Arab cooperation and coordination to address economic and social challenges facing the Arab region.
The meeting, she added also discussed means to develop practical mechanisms to enhance joint economic work through social, economic and development projects.
