Classes suspended in northern town as fighting intensifies in adjacent Syrian territory
AMMONNEWS - Authorities on Thursday ordered the suspension of school classes in the northern border town of Ramtha for Thursday as intense fighting broke out in the adjacent Syrian city of Daraa on the other side of the border.
A ministry of education spokesman told Petra that classes were suspended as a precautionary measure and to ensure the safety of students.
Since the eruption of the war in Syria, there have been many incidents in which 'stray' projectiles and shells landed inside or near the northern border town. In 2015, a bombshell coming from inside Syrian territory killed a 23-year-old man and injured others.
