Trimming allowances, bonuses received by government representatives
AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Thursday directed Minister of Finance, Omar Malhas, to re-consider all allowances and bonuses received by government officials in return for their membership on the boards of state-owned companies.
The new measures, which are part of a broad plan to rationalize public spending, also stated that ceilings of these allowances to be further studied by the ministry and the funds collected will go to support the Treasury.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet on Wednesday, decided to transfer all allowances and bonuses received by government officials for representing the state on the boards of companies to a special fund at the Finance Ministry. The collected funds to be distributed evenly among all representatives, even when a certain official represents the government in more than one company' board.
