Kingdom to shiver with temps below zero on coldest nights of January
AMMONNEWS - Chilly conditions are expected to prevail on Sunday across the Kingdom as temperatures remain 3-5 degrees below annual average, and plummet at night to minus 3, according to Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) daily brief.
Starting Sunday afternoon, the weather will begin to stabilize as the impact of the cold air mass gradually subsides, but cold conditions with frost formation are also forecast across the country, the JMD added.
Daytime temperatures forecast for today in Amman and northern regions will reach 9 degrees Celsius dropping down to 1 degree below zero, in the southern parts they will range between a high of 5 degrees and a low of minus three. Mercury levels in the Gulf of Aqaba will register 19 degrees during daytime, sliding to 8 at night.
Temperatures will rise on Monday, but they will remain around their seasonal average bringing similar cold conditions in most parts of the Kingdom. Temperatures will slightly again on Tuesday, but it will remain cold in the hilly areas, the Badia regions and eastern plains and relatively cold in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and in Aqaba. Scattered showers are also forecast in the northern and central parts of the country, extending at night to the southern regions with northwesterly moderate winds, the JMD further added.
