Bitter cold conditions with rain forecast over next three days
AMMONNEWS - Bitter cold conditions are still gripping much of the country on Monday and Tuesday with partly cloudy skies and westerly to northwesterly moderate to brisk winds, according to Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).
Temperatures will tangibly at night, creating bitter cold conditions with rainfall in most parts of the country accompanied with thunder, lightening and hail. Snow is also expected over highlands and parts of the eastern region, the JMD added.
A slight rise in temperatures is forecast on Wednesday, but similar cold conditions will continue in most regions, while it will be mild in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba. Winds will be southeasterly moderate with clouds at high and medium altitudes, the JMD said.
Temperatures expected in the capital and northern parts for today will range between a high of 9 degrees Celsius and a low of 3 degrees, in the southern regions, they will reach 9 degrees during daytime plunging to one degree below zero at night, while mercury levels in the Gulf of Aqaba will register 19 degrees dropping down to 8 degrees .
