AFD pledges to continue supporting Jordan in hosting Syrian refugees
AMMONNEWS - The French Development Agency (AFD), on Wednesday evening, reiterated its commitment to supporting Jordan's steadfastness and generosity in hosting Syrian refugees.
In a reception to mark its 10th anniversary of starting its operations in the Kingdom, French Ambassador to Jordan David Bertolotti, said the AFD has recently expanded its assistance to Jordan, as part of efforts to support it assuming the burden of refugees, both traditionally or reduce the pressure on public services caused by the large number of refugees, especially in water, renewable energy and transportation, in addition to other humanitarian aid.
AFD's Executive Director in charge of Operations, Laurence Breton-Moyet, said the AFD is committed toward helping Jordan to cope with hosting Syrian refugees, noting that the agency is expected to provide the Jordanian government with 900 million euros between 2016 and 2018.
