Royal Film Commission screens "Salam Neighbour" documentary
AMMONNEWS - The Royal Film Commission screened yesterday, the documentary 'Salam Neighbor' for American filmmakers - Zack Ingrasci and Chris Temple The documentary highlights economic and social conditions of Syrian refugees in Za'atari Refugee Camp which is located some 11 kilometers from the Syrian border, as well as the burden shouldered by Jordan to provide services to those refugees in addition to preserving security and order in the camp.
The two young Americans lived there among 85,000 Syrians. The United Nations Higher Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) that is entrusted with protecting, supporting and providing humanitarian aid to Syrian refugees called the situation as the world's most pressing humanitarian crisis.
'Salam Neighbor' has been screened at various film festivals, including a spotlight screening at AFI-DOCS 2015, Washington DC, CPH:DOX 2015, Copenhagen, where it was ranked among the best films, Washington West 2015, in Washington DC, Watch Docs 2015 in Warsaw, Aruba International Film Festival 2015, Human Rights Watch Film Festival 2016, Los Angeles and Crossroads 2016, Graz-Austria.
'Salam Neighbor' received the 2016 Media Award Honoring Voices of Courage & Conscience for a feature documentary from the US Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) and was a finalist for the 2016 SIMA Awards for documentary features.
