2,500 kilograms of expired food seized and destroyed in Zarqa
AMMONNEWS - The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) personnel in Zarqa, in cooperation with environmental police, seized 2,500 kilograms of expired food items that are unfit for human consumption.
Director of the JFDA office in Zarqa Ayman Al Majali said that the inspection team had seized and destroyed expired juices, meat, and canned food.
During the inspection campaign, the team seized half a ton of dairy products adulterated with hydrogenated vegetable oils, he added.
The director said the owners of the expired food items' markets were transferred to the police.
The JFDA aims to ensure food safety and quality, as well as the effectiveness and safety of drugs and related materials, through the application of controlled systems based on scientific and international standards. The administration plans to strengthen cooperation with its partners and increase citizen awareness of proper handling and use of food and drugs.
