AMMONNEWS - The Lower House of Parliament, on Sunday, passed, by majority, proposed amendments to the constitution. 118 lawmakers voted for the amendments, 8 voted against and 3 abstained.
The amendments give His Majesty the King sole authority to appoint the chairman of the army’s Joint Chiefs-of-Staff and the General Intelligence Department director.
They also expand the jurisdiction of the Independent Elections Commission (IEC) to administer municipal polls and any other elections assigned by the government.
