AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh discussed on Monday with Arab and foreign counterparts the Israeli escalation in Gaza Strip.
In telephone conversations, Judeh stressed the importance of reaching an agreement for a ceasefire and going back to the negotiation table, noting the repercussions that any vacuum resulting from the halt in peace talks can have.
'The only guarantee for the security and stability of the region (Middle East) is the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state,' the foreign minister said. Further, he called for an immediate stop to the Israeli aggression and targeting of civilians in Gaza.
Judeh spoke over the phone with Dutch Foreign Minister Frans Timmermans, Tunisian Foreign Minister Munji Hamid, British Foreign Minister Philip Hammond, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri and the Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil Elaraby.
These telephonic contacts, the minister said, were part of the continued Jordanian efforts to stop the Israeli military operations in the coastal enclave.
