Israel detains over 40 Hamas members across West Bank
AMMONNEWS - Israeli forces continued a wide-ranging detention campaign in the West Bank overnight Sunday, detaining over 40 Hamas members, including several lawmakers.
Israeli forces raided Hebron and detained speaker of the Palestinian parliament, Aziz Dweik, along with five other parliamentarians.
Soldiers also detained lawmakers Basim Zaarir, Samir al-Qadi, Azzam Salhab, Muhammad al-Tal and Nayif Rajoub.
Jawad Bahr Natsha, Muhammad Shafiq Qawasmi, Firas Wael Abu Sharkh, Tahsin al-Juba, Shadi Muhammad al-Uweiwi, Hamza Abdul-Jabbar Zughayar, Amr Mahir Ubeido, Adib Muhammad Qawami and his brother Amin, Munthir Muhammad Hreiz, Iyad al-Qawasmi, Jasir Qteil and Anas Amir Rasras were identified as other Hamas members detained in the Hebron raids.
In the Hebron village of al-Samu, Israeli soldiers detained Abdul-Khaliq Natsha, Ismail al-Hawamda, and Muhanad Ahmad al-Hawamda, while Muhammad Kamil Qteit was detained in Dura.
In the northern West Bank, Israeli forces arrested Hamas members Sheikh Mahir al-Kharraz and Issa Masimi from Nablus.
Rami Suleiman, 33, Sheikh Ibrahim Hawajir, 52, and 71-year-old Rifaat Ahmad Nuerat were detained in the Jenin area, while 45-year-old Sufyan Steiti and Asad Bashir Badran, 28, were detained in Tulkarem.
Clashes broke out in Jenin between local youths and Israeli forces after Samih Jamal al-Qit, was shot in the foot by Israeli soldiers.
The raids are part of a wide-ranging campaign to locate three settlers who are suspected of being kidnapped on Thursday.
Thousands of Israeli soldiers were deployed in the Hebron area following the incident, with near constant raids on Palestinian homes.
Over 150 Palestinians have been detained in the current arrest campaign.
