AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Forces, on Tuesday, attended a celebration organized by the army marking the Independence Day, the King's Accession to the Throne, the Great Arab Revolt and the Army Day.
His Royal Highness Crown Prince, Hussein bin Abdullah II, accompanied his Majesty the King to the ceremony held at the Royal Culture Palace.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Lt. Gen. Mishaal al-Zaben, highlighted in a speech the army's development and its pursuit of maintaining high level of professionalism and preparedness and its role in safeguarding the nation's security, stability and achievements. The King and the attendance watched a documentary featuring the history and development of the Jordan Armed Forces.
The King bestowed honors and medals upon a number of army and security forces and civil defense personnel as well as servicemen and women injured while on duty.
Earlier in he day, His Majesty the King accompanied by the Crown Prince, patronized another Armed Forces' celebration marking national days at the Martyr's Memorial in the Jordan Valley.
The King reviewed the guard of honor, laid a wreath of flowers at the monument and wrote in the visitors book.
