AMMONNEWS - Jordanian health authorities announced on Sunday the country’s sixth fatality from the MERS virus, raising concerns over rising infections form the deadly virus.
The man died last week, the Health Ministry said.
The number of confirmed infections of the deadly virus in the country reached 11 following the detection of a new case on Saturday, the Ministry added in a statement.
First discovered in Saudi Arabia, MERS is similar to severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), which broke out in Asia in 2003, but has a lower rate of transmission.
