House speaker, DFLP secretary general discuss situation in Palestine
AMMONNEWS - Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Atef Tarawneh discussed on Thursday with Secretary General of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), Nayef Hawatmeh, developments in Palestine, mainly the US-brokered Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations, the Israeli practices against the Palestinian lands and people, and their impact on the Palestinians' national rights.
Tarawneh urged the Palestinians to end their differences to address threats to their national rights, adding that division among the Palestinians is in the interest of Israel that still rejects peace.
He said that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, considers the Palestinian issue a top priority and is keen to support it, noting that the House will hold a three-day conference on April 28 on Jerusalem that will highlight the religious importance of the Al Aqsa Mosque as well as Islamic and Christian holy sites in the occupied city and rally Arab and international support for the city.
