1,520 Palestinian children killed by Israelis since 2000
AMMONNEWS - The Minister of Social Affairs at the Palestinian National Authority, Kamal Sharafi, said on Saturday that Israeli forces have detained 1,520 Palestinian children since 2000.The Palestinian official stressed the need to protect Palestinian juveniles by endorsing a law that guarantees fair trial.
Marking the Palestinian Child Day, Sharafi said in a statement that since 2000, many Palestinian children have been the subject of frequent attacks, direct targeting, shooting, and continued campaign of arrests by the Israeli soldiers.
Around 1,520 Palestinian children have been killed, more than 6,000 injured and more than 200 children are still languishing in abusive Israeli jails, and around 10,000 children were detained since the year 2000 ,the official said.
Sharafi stressed the importance of promoting effective partnership and social responsibility to protect Palestinian children from killings and deprivation, and to ensure that they live in a safe and stable atmosphere free of violence.
The Palestinian official stressed the role of international organizations to stand for the rights of the Palestinian children, saying that, 'Our message to the world on this day is to guarantee the human rights of our children, make it a day to stop violence against them and help them realize all their legitimate rights.'
