king, Lavrov to discuss situation in Syria, nuclear project
AMMONNEWS - and King Abdullah II and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet on the sidelines of the Nuclear Security Summit for talks on key international and regional issues, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Monday.
“Special attention will be paid to the situation in Syria, as well as the Middle East settlement, as well as a project to build a nuclear power plant in Jordan,” the ministry said.
“Russia calls for settling the Syrian crisis by peaceful ways. It is necessary to immediately cease bloodshed, to start a broad dialogue on the normalization of the situation and to fulfill the people’s aspirations for better life and stable democratic development,” the ministry said.
“The situation in Syria has a negative impact on the public, political and economic situation in adjacent countries, including Jordan that deployed over 600,000 refugees on its territory,” the ministry said.
