Tarawneh, Larijani hold talks on Jordanian-Iranian ties
AMMONNEWS - Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Atef Tarawneh, on Monday, met with President of the Iranian Shura Council, Ali Larijani, and discussed with him ways of cementing relations between Jordan and Iran.
Tarawneh said Jordan-Iranian ties are based on historical and religious foundations and mutual respect.
He stressed that Jordan embraces moderation, dialogue, freedom, democracy and human rights, and does not see a way to resolve any dispute only through dialogue.
On Syria, Tarawneh said that Jordan supports efforts aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis to end the suffering of the Syrian people and maintain Syria's land and people unity.
Larijani said Jordan and Iran enjoy deep relations and that his country looks forward to enhancing them in all domains.
He also hailed His Majesty the King’s stance since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, when he called for a peaceful political solution to the crisis.
Tarawneh is heading a parliamentary delegation to attend the meetings of the 16th session of the General Committee of the Parliamentary Union of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
