Iraqi official : Daesh seeks to find foothold along Jordanian border
AMMONNEWS -Nouf Elwir - The Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (Isis) or Daesh is trying to find a foothold along the Jordanian border, The Iraqi parliamentary Security committee's deputy told Ammon News on Wednesday.
' There should be high level of Security cooperation between the two countries to prevent [Daesh] fighters from carrying out terrorist attacks.' Abbas Al-Byyati added.
He indicated that the situation on the borders is calm and normal, after weeks of violence and clashes between (Isis) and Iraqi Armed Forces in the West of Iraq (main Sunni cities).
The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant or Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, abbreviated as ISIS or ISIL ,It was established in the early years of the Iraq War, and pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda in 2004, becoming known as al-Qaeda in Iraq.
Al-Bayyati said that the current situation in Iraq must ring an alarm bells inside the kingdom in case ISIS extend their conquests to reach places that may threatens the kingdom national security and trade interests between the two countries.
On the other hand, Al- Bayyati welcomed Jordan preparation to offer its facilities to host a U.S. training program for Iraqi troops to help counter a resurgence by Al Qaeda-linked militants who held sway in the Western Iraqi cities of Fallujah and in parts of Ramadi.
Few days ago, Obama administration notified Congress of plans to sell 24 Apache attack helicopters to Iraq, part of an 'effort to bolster' the Iraqi military against ISIS.
