King stresses role of female parliamentarians in serving nation
His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Sunday, stressed the importance of the role of female parliamentarians in serving the citizens and the homeland and said:'our democratic march is continuous and studied and in balanced and gradual progress to safeguard our present and build the future of our generations confidently.' In a meeting with members of the Women Parliamentarians Forum, His Majesty emphasized the need for institutionalizing the work of parliamentary blocs and groupings to contribute in the development of parliamentary performance and move in the path towards formation of parliamentary governments.
The King called, during the meeting attended by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, for strengthening consultation and cooperation between the government and the parliament on various national issues, including endorsement of priority legislation and expanding grassroots participation in decision-making.
King Abdullah II spoke about economic challenges, asserting that with team work ' We will always be able to overcome various challenges.'
Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, present at the meeting, said advancing legislation on political life in Jordan will be enlightened by His Majesty's roadmap, set forth in his speech from the throne.
The women parliamentarians affirmed their support to His Majesty's vision for comprehensive reforms and pledged their participation in drafting the relevant laws that would meet the aspirations of jordanian men and women.
