Interior minister: Repercussions of the Syrian crisis depleting state's resources
PARIS (Petra) – Interior Minister Hussein Majali said repercussions from the Syrian crisis are directly affecting Jordan's vital services sectors and are beginning to exert great pressure on the Kingdom's limited resources.
The Minister, who began a visit to France and Belgium at the head of a delegation of security specialists and experts dealing with Syrian refugees' affairs, said that the large numbers of these refugees in the Kingdom necessitates continued support to Jordan, noting that the quality of health, educational and other services is declining due to the continued influx of refugees into the Kingdom.
Majali met yesterday with his French counterpart Manuel Valls and other security officials and discussed means to boost bilateral ties and the exchange of expertise.
Talks also covered the Syrian crisis and its repercussions on Jordan in economic, social, security and humanitarian spheres.
The minister, over the next few days, is expected to meet in Brussels with EU Foreign Policy chief Catherine Ashton and other officials to discuss the Syrian crisis and the EU's support to Jordan to enable it to continue playing its role towards the Syrian refugees.
