King meets US vice president over Syria, Mideast peace
WASHINGTON (Petra) – His Majesty King Abdullah II met in Washington today with US Vice-President Joe Biden in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein Bin Abdullah.
The King and Biden discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, mainly the Syrian crisis, and also the efforts to achieve peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis based on the two-state solution.
Yesterday, His Majesty concluded his state visit to China where he held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang focussing on ways to forge closer cooperation ties between the two countries in various fields.
Over the next two days, the King is expected to begin his visit to New York where he will lead Jordan's delegation at the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.
The King will also deliver an address at the General Assembly and meet UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, a number of heads of states and senior figures as part of the continuing consultations and coordination efforts in connection with the latest developments in the Middle East.
