Royal Decree includes shooting incident on House agenda
AMMAN –– A Royal Decree was issued on Tuesday instructing the Senate to add 'use of firearms inside the parliament building' to the House's discussion agenda, after an MP used a weapon during a session earlier the same day, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
During Tuesday's morning session, deputy Talal Sharif fired several shots following an argument between him and MP Qusai Dmeisi.
Following the incident, the House held a closed-door session in which it was agreed to form a committee to investigate the development.
Journalists were dismissed from Parliament following the incident.
The House is scheduled to meet at 4:00pm to discuss the issue, sources said.
During extraordinary sessions, Parliament cannot debate any issues other than those specified in Royal Decrees calling for the sessions. (Jordan Times)
