AMMAN (Petra) – His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday received US Middle East Peace Envoy Martin Indyk, who is visiting Jordan as part of his tour to the region.
The King briefed Indyk about the latest developments regarding the efforts by US Secretary of State John Kerry to achieve tangible progress in the peace talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis.
His Majesty stressed that Jordan will continue its support to these efforts to tackle all final-status issues and establishment an independent Palestinian state and for such a state to live in security and peace alongside Israel, as per the two-state solution – one in which Jordan has high strategic interest and which is part of the Arab peace initiative.
The King also cautioned against the negative and serious repercussions of the unilateral Israeli practices in Jerusalem on the future of the entire peace process.
Indyke said the US Administration appreciates His Majesty's relentless efforts to achieve peace, security and stability in the region.
The meeting was attended by the Director of His Majesty's Office, Imad Fakhouri, and the accompanying American delegation.
