Doctors Without Borders starts receiving injured Syrians at Ramtha Hospital
RAMTHA (Petra) – Doctors Without Borders on Sunday began restoring and equipping the old emergency ward at the main government hospital in the border city of Ramtha in order to receive the Syrians injured in the ongoing conflict in their country.
Ramtha Government Hospital Director Dr. Yousef Tahat said it was agreed to admit the injured Syrians under a cooperation agreement signed by the Ministry of Health and Doctors Without Borders to prepare certain sections of the hospital for receiving the wounded and sick Syrians.
He said parts of the old ward were refurbished and equipped with medical supplies and beds and a full staff of doctors, nurses and technicians was assigned to deal with the growing number of Syrians who had crossed into the Kingdom.
Tahat noted that Syrians seeking medical assistance at the hospital outnumbered the local inhabitants benefiting from the medical facility, and urged the staff to cooperate closely with Doctors Without Borders 'to carry out this humanitarian task.'
