AMMONNEWS - King Abdullah II on Thursday performed the Eid al-Fitr prayers in the Red Sea port city of Aqaba in southern Jordan following his return from a private visit abroad on Wednesday.
The King joined Aqaba residents in performing the Eid prayers at Sharif Hussein bin Ali Mosque, and listened to the sermon delivered by the Chief Islamic Justice Ahmad Hlayel, who discussed the virtues of the month of Ramadan and the morals, ethics, and values of Islam.
Hlayel spoke of the comprehensive nature and moderation of the Islamic faith, and stressed the ethics and moral behavior of individual Muslims, based on self-restraint, love, forgiveness, tolerance, cooperation, and solidarity.
The Chief Islamic Justice applauded the King's keenness to keep channels of communications open with Jordanian citizens throughout the kingdom in various occasions.
