Int’l youth foundation launches new services in Jordan Valley
AMMAN (Jordan Times) — The International Youth Foundation’s (IYF) Youth for the Future (Y4F) programme on Tuesday launched a range of new services for young people at That Al Netaquein women’s charity in the central Jordan Valley, according to an IYF statement.
The new facilities include a career guidance and life skills centre, and an IT club offering training certificates accredited by the University of Cambridge, and set up in collaboration with the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organisation (TAG-Org), the statement said.
The IYF also launched a youth creativity centre, co-established with the Zaha Cultural Centre, offering art, music, Arabic calligraphy and handicraft training programmes, and an English club, set up in partnership with the British Council, providing English training courses carried out using drama, storytelling, and online interaction
“The new facilities were established based on the interests of local youths and are supervised by a team of IYF-trained specialists,” the statement said.
USAID Mission Director Beth Paige and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh attended the launch ceremony.
The Y4F programme is funded by USAID and carried out in partnership with the government.
That Al Netaquein also signed an agreement with TAG-Org to provide accredited certificates from the University of Cambridge to training graduates.
“We are proud to be part of this event,” the statement quoted Abu-Ghazaleh as saying.
During her tour of the facilities, Paige commended That Al Netaquein efforts to serve the local community.
“This organisation demonstrated its commitment to serving youth at risk and opened its doors to the community to a supportive environment for youth in the area,” she said, according to the statement.
IYF Jordan Country Director Rana Al Turk agreed with Paige.
“We are proud of the successes That Al Netaquein has achieved in partnership with the Y4F in such a short period of time,” the statement quoted her as saying.
