National campaign promotes IUDs for safe and effective family planning
AMMAN (Jordan Times) — A new family planning campaign was launched recently to promote the use of the IUD as a safe long-acting reversible contraceptive method for couples who want to space their children and plan their family size, according to a statement from the Strengthening Family Planning Project.
The national campaign features advertisements on television and radio and in major daily newspapers, and information materials are available in public and private clinics nationwide.
Entertaining and educational community lectures on IUDs are expected to reach at least 6,000 women, where they will be eligible to receive free family planning service vouchers following individual consultations with health workers, the statement said.
Women and couples can also visit the campaign’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/osritna) to obtain additional information and to ask questions regarding the IUD, with a qualified physician providing a timely response.
