Winners of Int’l Quran Competition for Women Awarded in Jordan
Amman - The winners of the 8th International Qur'an Competition for Women were awarded at a ceremony in the Jordanian capital of Amman on Thursday.
The contest, titled Al-Hashemi International Competition was held in three categories, Al-Ray daily reported.
In the category of memorization of the entire Qur'an and Tajweed recitation, Meymuneh Ghaed from Yemen, Shima Salam from Bahrain, Ameneh Nasib from the United Arab Emirates and Aisha Nuwishi from Algeria came first to fifth, respectively.
In the second category, namely memorization of 20 consecutive Juzes (parts) of the Quran, Kamal Hussian from Bangladesh took home the top prize.
The other winners in this category were Afra Al-Najrani from Saudi Arabia, Shima Azem from Morocco, Asma Muhammad from Egypt, and Eida Saeida from Indonesia.
The five winners of the third category, held on memorization of 10 consecutive Juzes of the Qur'an, were Maryam Ahmed from the UK, Nour Lofatin Vahida Muhammad Salehin from Brunei, Rwan Al-Akawi from Lebanon and Nuriya Bibarsufa from Russia.
