AMMONNEWS - Employees at the Justice Palace, the main quarters of the judicial courts, protested on Sunday morning calling on the government to increase their bonuses, a demand they have been calling for since 2001.
The employees, of the 3rd public sector pay category, went on strike Sunday morning, causing a halt in all transactions and paperwork at the Justice Palace.
The employees called on the Ministry of Justice to grant them the bonuses that are offered to some employees and not others. The protesters demands called for equality in incentives and bonuses, noting that some employees get an average of JD 40 per month in bonuses, while others receive JD 150 per month.
Secretary General of the Justice Ministry, Mohammad Mbaideen, met with the protesting employees and promised to address their demands.
The strike on Sunday caused a chaotic halt to all court procedures and citizens' paperwork was delayed causing many to voice annoyance over the strike.
