AMMAN (Petra) The Agriculture Ministry today denied that Israeli citrus fruits have hit the Jordanian market and said it had not issued any licenses for such imports.
'All citrus fruits sold in local markets are locally produced or imported from Syria,' said Ministry spokesman Nemir Haddadin, adding that the daily market need of citrus fruits is estimated at about 200 tons, including 80 tons imported from Syria and the rest produced in the Kingdom.
Haddadin said the ministry is the umbrella of all stakeholders in the agriculture sector and 'is the importer, exporter and farmer.'
