AMMAN (Petra) Two Jordanian officers have been released after they were kidnapped in Darfur last August, the Public Security Department (PSD) announced Wednesday.
The two men, who were in Darfur as part of the UN peacekeeping mission, were abducted on August 20 by an outlawed group.
Sergeant Hassan Al Mazawdah and Corporal Qassim Sarhan are now at the Jordanian contingent in Darfur, the PSD said.
'They are in good health', it added.
The security department has highly valued efforts exerted by the Sudanese government and the UN mission in Sudan to release the two soldiers.
A PSD delegation went to Darfur on August 26 to follow up on the investigation into the disappearance of the two men, where they discussed efforts to release the two abducted officers.
The Jordanian government is now making arrangements to bring the freed men back into the Kingdom as soon as possible.
