Dana, (Petra) - The Royal Scientific Society (RSS) has closed the Rummana Camp in Dana Biosphere Reserve due to the end of the tourism season as well as cold weather.
The reserve's director, Amer Rfou, said that the number of Jordanian and foreign tourists to the reserve declined by 30% as a result of the prevailing political situation in the Arab countries and a number of foreign countries, noting that the number of visitors this year reached 35,000 compared to 50,000 in the same period of last year.
The camp is located within the borders of the Dana Reserve which is Jordan’s largest nature reserve, covering 320 km2 of landscape along the face of the Great Rift Valley.
