Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi said that there are positive developments in the region that we need to build on.
During a press conference held with his Greek counterpart, George Gerapetritis, on Tuesday, Safadi added that bringing aid into Gaza is a priority, and emphasizing the consolidation of the ceasefire.
He pointed out that the upcoming visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to the United States of America and his meeting with US President Donald Trump is an important visit, stressing at the same time the strategic relations that link the Kingdom with the United States, indicating that the American role is a major role in achieving peace in the region.
Safadi continued: "We sent a letter to the US Secretary of State, in which we confirmed that we are partners in the peace process, and we will work with President Trump's administration to achieve this in order to reach a permanent solution for peace in the region."
In turn, Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis said that Jordan is an oasis of stability in the region, expressing his country's appreciation for Jordan's position regarding the preservation of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
Gerapetritz stressed that the ceasefire in Gaza could be a positive turning point towards sustainable stability in the Middle East, adding: "We sent a joint message to the US Secretary of State after the Cairo meeting that we are ready to work with the United States to achieve a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution."
